Symbols Found on Our Blessed Mother Medals

In the Catholic Church, the fleur de lis found in so many Blessed Mother medals is herself, the Immaculate Queen of Heaven and Earth, our guide.  

Halos appear often as a crown of rays around the head. In Mary, the halo is a representation of her spiritual character through the symbolism of light emanating from her. 

In Christian iconography, the crown has religious meanings, such as victory and glory.  Mary's crown is also a symbol of royalty. Through her marriage with Joseph, Mary joined the House of King David.

The twelve stars represent the tribes of Israel, but also the 12 Apostles, and furthermore, can be interpreted as the apostles of our own times.
